The Population Reference Bureau (PRB), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Union for African Population Studies (UAPS) brought together journalists and communications professionals from across sub-Saharan Africa for a day-long workshop in advance of the 7th African Population Conference. Invited participants had the opportunity to learn about the key concepts of the demographic dividend; consider its relevance to local, national, and international news and hot topics; and interview researchers and other key informants who attended the African Population Conference.

Workshop attendees left the training prepared to:

• Make connections between demographic dividend concepts and news hooks.
• Interview researchers and other key informants about demographic dividend concepts.
• Write about one or more key concepts of the demographic dividend in a short news article.
