The Research Council of Norway's ECONPOP program — Research on Economic Growth Poverty Reduction, Reproductive Health and Population Dynamics — presented results to policy-makers in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency for Development Cooperation, Norad, at a conference on April 27, 2017 in Oslo, Norway. Researchers from the ECONPOP program were joined by researchers from the Women's Rights and Gender Equality program. Both programs are part of the NORGLOBAL (Norway - a global partner) initiative to strengthen Norwegian research on and for development in low- and middle-income countries and also to strengthen research capacity in these countries.
The Research Council of Norway contact is Jan Monteverde Haakonsen. See NORGLOBAL programs here.
Marlene Lee from the PopPov Secretariat at PRB also spoke at the event and led training/rehearsals for the researchers who gave speed presentations. A PRB web article summarizes the experience.
The Research Council also distributed a policy brief summarizing the ECONPOP results for Burkina Faso, Benin, The Gambia, Kenya, Senegal, sub-Saharan Africa, Tanzania, and Nepal.
